Measuring the size of the girdle
Place the tape around the widest part of the body where the brief is to be worn/support is needed. This is normally over the hernia/stoma pouch if relevant or around the hips on a lady. Keep the tape measure fairly tight.
The required size can be established by referring to the size/code chart. For extra compression smaller sizes may be selected.
Measuring the height/depth of girdle
Measure from the centre of the crotch (between legs) in a straight line up the body to where the garment needs to come up to.
This will normally be above the top of the pouch by at least the width of elastic (3cm) or above the hernia by at least the width of elastic (3cm) whichever is the highest.
Once you have this measurement use the fitting guide ( size/code chart) to determine if a low or high waist garment is needed. Please note
Men’s are +12cm at the front and +8cm at the back.Ladies with legs shape
Please note that these run approximately one size bigger than standard briefs and also sit higher. Therefore it is essential this garment is tried on if the patient requires this style.
